Big & Small of how I am

Is this Waterfall Big or Small?

I used to remain small to keep others comfortable
That’s how we were used to being, relative to each other

Now

I feel nobody big
I feel nobody small either

There is a big difference…

*Kindly excuse me as I will be a bit delayed in getting back to your kind comments, in a day or two surely.

  1. This is growth, or aging, or experience? When consideration can be extreme… when over sensitivity toward others is a detriment to your own self.

  2. Pragalbha, always beautiful post. I think and I assume in the indian culture, or may be some personalities, keeping ourself small is a mark of respect, meaning humility I could be bigger than them but out of respect I stay small and i dont have any resentment in doing so.

On the otherside keeping ourself small and thinking others big, could mean I dont understand my value, I lack confidence and I feel all are better than me. I lack self confidence or something.

Now I feel no big or small, means I have grown in my confidence, I realise my value, my contribution and I value everyone and myself the same. This is such a winderful moment if growth, discovery, freedom, and creates such happiness. But then one has to be careful of ego.

I read the other comments on comparison and they make total sense. With comparison and me feeling small, the root cause us a lack of self esteem, confidence, respect ..and until that Is broken by stepping out of comfort zones only then we see no difference because we niw value ourself.

I hope i make sense. Sorry another long conment
    Regards Bella

    • Beautifully dissected Bella, actually when the perceptions of big or small don’t exist , it otherwise leads to rising above the dichotomy of pain & pleasure, confidence or non- confidence, good or bad … an aura of true awakening enamouring our subtle consciousness ultimately paving the way for universality of perceptions, thoughts or actions ! Blessed times !

    • Dear Bella you always give me utmost happiness with your in depth thoughtful reflections. It was very soothing to read your comment – first paragraph is absolutely true it was such cultural conditioning to stay small to convey respect. It turned in to what you say in the second paragraph lack of self value and confidence. This happens unknowingly without the intention of comparing but ultimately it translates to living in comparison to others. I agree how it is a wondrous moment of growth to break out of this pattern and feel the freedom and worth just for being ones self and not in relation to any other.
You absolutely read me exactly and gave me the happiness of affirming the process. Thank you very much!

  3. There is no big or small no need to compare we are to work in harmony with each other not to overpower one another to be greater and make the other feel inferior. There should be no need to act less to make others feel greater. Simply be who you are. Bless you

  4. I’ve really missed reading your words and thoughts. How beautifully you have written a few sentences which describe a huge issue for most people. There is this need to constantly compare and critique, without realising we are just as we are. There’s no comparion link needed. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  5. Oh Pragalbha, you are wonderful! This is an incredible demostration on how we are all the same, and that each one of us has beautiful gifts to contribute to the world. And gorgeous photo. Who took this, was it your son? πŸ™‚ ❀ Thank you for contributing this post for #ForgivingFridays. It reminds me of a Tennyson quote, "I am part of all that I have met."
Much love to you and have a great week,

  6. Yes, its amazing how often we remain small to allow other to feel big… When we fathom that we need to be true to ourselves, regardless of how it makes others feel, We are neither big nor small.. Just individually unique in our own shell… Which fits just perfectly any size… πŸ™‚ ❀

  8. It strikes me as so curious that very many of us do try to keep ourselves small in order to make other’s comfortable. Especially curious since there are so many people out there who are attracted to authenticity, to people who are as true to themselves as they reasonably can be. Being around such people can feel liberating.
