I am delighted to share this poem from my son Sanved Doshi, Age 12 years, and the painting below by my nephew Ishan Shah, Age 14 years, to go with his poem.

The time to change is still there
You think some things are unfair.
The time will be all gone
You can’t think that long.

The time comes back
You think there is a lack.
Soon you have a kid called John.
You realize it’s all gone.

You will never get time back
If you still lay on a sack.
You think that it’s gone
But there is always another dawn.

You should go and enjoy a dance
There is always one more chance.
If you never get to use your knacks
You will just sit at home and pay a tax.

  5. You’ve raised him well Pragalbha. He thinks! This in itself is wonderful, but on to the poem…

    Is this recent? Is he feeling the time shift too? The kid named John? Is it John the Revelator perhaps, that he was thinking of in regard to the time? My mind just went there as soon as I read that line.

    There’s that same sense of moving forward into what can be, if we allow our knacks. After all, none of us enjoy paying tax. 😉

  10. Kudos to your son and nephew… they are wise beyond their years. A beautiful painting! The lady is so life-like. Is she someone he knows? As for the poem, your son is enjoying what he does and he has a way with words.”You should go and enjoy a dance” is what resonated with me. We all need to enjoy life. xo

    • I am with you in amazement of their talent 🙂 Their inner worlds so unknown to us until they reveal with expressing such fantastic arts. I don’t think the nephew knows the one in the painting but I will ask. Thank you very much for your words of encouragement!

  17. Oh Pragalbha, I am touched so much that Sanved wrote this poem and wanted to contribute it for #ForgivingFridays – it is so full of hope and a great joy. And Ishan’s painting is absolutely gorgeous & perfect for the poem! They are both quite talented.

  18. 12 and 14 year olds filling our world with their talent. They are hope for us.

    To recognize, so young, that there is always more. To know that he has the ability to choose to ‘do’ more, to try, to continue. Some people don’t learn that ever….
