The numbness that we wear, in order to always smile
Choosing not to feel the pain, with that practiced smile
It is liberating to experience all there is, and not smile
For the true joys of life do not necessitate that we smileOne that comes from the heart and eyes is a true smile
P.S. This is a contribution to ForgivingFridays on ForgivingConnects, a blog by dear Debbie Roth, that is a wonderful work in support of acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self- love.
And my heart so easily smiles with your words, dear lady! A thought provoking piece 🙂

It is liberating to experience all there is,
the true sum of life, to drink it up and feel it flow through, good and bad, yin and yang. Nice work here Pragal, reminds me of where I work, when I come in and exude my love with a genuine smile, I feel so much more connected with people and they with me, a bright thing like a shining light ❤ Peace and kudos my friend ❤

Pragalbha, I am so moved by the compassion and loving of this poem! You are such a wise Soul. To me, experiencing all of who we are is a key to self-forgiveness, and you express it so beautifully here….what an openness to embracing ourselves as we are. Thank you for sharing this poem for #ForgivingFridays. It is a gift to share this poem with my readers. Sending you joy and blessings galore. ❤ Love, Debbie

Dear Debbie, your words in support always empower me, with a gentle kindness that you bring. It is a open space of freedom indeed to embrace ourselves with all there is. It is pure happiness and gratitude to share this interaction with you.

I love the profound truth you’ve expressed here, Pragal. We, being women, are expect to smile most of the time, and the necessity of smiling is emotionally draining. I agree that “the true joys of life do not necessitate that we smile.”

True, eventually it does get tiring to keep smiling. True joys of any interaction too does not necessitate a smile. Your kind support always empowers me. Thank you very much.

There were two advertisements on this post. It says to report them, so now I did. (Mark’s boots.)
I liked this photo on your post, natural beauty brings a smile instantly to my face, as well as approaching people on a hiking trail. 🌲😊🌳

Thanks for the alert on the advertisement. I am not sure what it means, will try to find out.
True, nature brings about a genuine smile and so do those on the trail in nature 🙂 I am glad you liked the photo, thank you for your kind visit.

I love those moments when the joy within bubbles over and my smile just happens. Then there are those times the sadness within threatens to break me to pieces and I force a smile on my face to lift myself from out of destruction. A simple smile is a powerful force!!! Great post, dear friend!!! 🤗

My dear mother always told us that ‘it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.’ Sitting here now testing her theory out, I realize she was right as always. She didn’t mention this, so I will. Smiling also feels better!

Smiling does feel better, true.
Though I saw my mother smile so much while keep so much of her pain down, and I did follow her in that habit. Eventually decided it is better to be real instead of having to put on a smile. Thank you truly, for taking the time to share your thoughts.
