Breathe life

While significantly playing our roles on earth …parent, son/daughter, employee/employer, relator/related in every/any possible way …somewhere we are always trying to connect with the individual in us. We are trying to make sense about what brings us pain and joy. To make choices that work for us best.

If we are not giving any regard, during the day, to the fact that we are breathing …how else are we, in any more effective way, connecting with ourselves? We came in alive on earth with our first breath in and we will leave when we last breathe out. If we are not cultivating a full breath, then in a way, we are limiting our possibilities at anything that is called life or life-related. We are cutting short the supply of life force itself, that which propels anything out of us. We put daily demands on our body with such enormous expectations. The quality of our breath determines our experience in our body and life.

If we work with our breath, the breath will work for us, for  lifetime.

When we are forcing, resisting, feeling like nothing works in our favor, not even in our body …it is our turn to work with our body and life. Allow it, nurture it, nourish it, communicate with it. Bring your attention to effective methods and cycles of breath, so that it flows in and out, empty of thinking …and then it is available for the messages from the body. They are not very logical, mental messages in words, they are more intuitive cues that feel more relaxed from within. They lead you towards more integration and choices more in harmony of your being.

  1. This is beautiful, Pragalbha, and so true! The breath is one of my keys to relax and let go … and so well-put how it nourishes us and helps us to expand.

I’d love for you to contribute this post to Forgiving Fridays, if you want to! It fits so well with the blessings of forgiving. Bless you Pragalbha, and thanks for a great post.

  2. Great post PD, I do agree with everything you said here. We often get lost in the chaos of urban jungle. We simply forget that we need to breath. But I feel the modern fast moving lifestyle and commitments from all sides making us miss the breath. That’s the downfall of our society. That’s unfortunate.

    • Thank you for taking the time on this post and also visiting my new page 🙂
Your reflections are so true. Most people I work with haven’t been aware at all that they are breathing while all they live and do. They find such newness in just feeling their breath.

  3. Great post! I have just become aware that because of all the stress that I have been experiencing I have been guarding my breath and in so doing I am actually hurting myself. I am practicing now to get more air down into my lower lobes where it seems the problem is starting to exist. I am a huge advocate for deep slow breathing and to find myself holding my breath or guarding my breath or taking shallow breaths is extremely shocking to me. I will get these lower lobes opened and in so doing I will prevent disease from happening. Breath is everything to life. If we are but aware of this we can control so much within ourselves and around ourselves. Again I applaud you for a beautiful post. Thank you! 💕

    • Yes, the quality of our breath is symptomatic of what state we are in and it is the most effective tool to influence it towards balance. Dis-ease occurs when our breath is continually stressed. Thank you so much for sharing your reflection 🙂

    • When we are stressed, our breath has stories sticking to it. It helps to have cultivated a practice of a good, slow breath at other times, so it can be used to empty ourselves of thinking when needed.
