Beware what you ask
For it surely comes
Make sure you Ask
For it surely comes
Sometimes gift-wrapped
In porcupine skin
Pricks & pierces as you get it unwrapped
Until your heart bleeds in pain as if tapped
Unwrap with gloves of gratitude
And blessings counted profuse
The asked gifts get revealed
Deep wounds get healed
Be aware of all you ask
For it surely comes
Be Alert
For it surely comes
In ways you haven’t considered
Beautiful

Most times we ask for things that put us in trouble at the end of the day.

Thank you for sharing your thought. Trouble is only a perspective in my opinion. Everything is a gift packaged, gratitude and belief helps unwrap and unfold it.

That is so true.. we ask for things only looking at the bright side.
We get what wish for and we get all the ugly sides of what we wish for too…and like a spoilt child we complain.
LikeLiked by 2 people
that is a good argument, N.!
But I do not think it’s bad to complain about the ugly sides. We accepted the uggly sides already with the desire for the beautiful sides. This does not mean that you can not work to reduce the ugly sides, right? Communication about feelings is important!

you are right, communication is really important. But complaining isn’t. ๐

yes, definately….but it is always a tightrope walk….communication, criticism and complaining…it needs lot of intuition. But your statement was clear and right. If you take, you take the whole not only the good parts. This is life anyway. If you want to have wonderful, perfect moments in life you have get also the bitter sides, when this moments are gone…..

nice visualization here Pragal โค excellent piece and so true….beware what you manifest โค thoughts become things….choose the good ones ๐

Thank you so much my friend. As much as we manifest through choice of thoughts, our gifts sometimes just come from situations that seem unpleasant or painful …only because we need to shed so much we hold on to, to open up to the new gifts …that shedding is what is painful …that’s the gift wrap that we didn’t choose. I really appreciate you sharing your view, it is our thoughts indeed that we need to be aware of.

I interpret this to mean that what we want, is not always actually true. Everything can have consequences or look different in reality and ultimately – be careful what you wish for. In addition, not everything is as good as it seems. Again, I love the storytelling in this. Your writing never ceases to amaze me. ๐

That is one perfect interpretation! I would also like to say that not everything is as bad as it seems too …that is just a perspective. The gifts are hidden in everything.

How true! Ask and you will be given!! Universe works magically, our intentions are accepted and reciprocated back for sure. When how and in which form is what life is all about!

Iโm so glad you gave me the link for this poem! Truly it expresses the heart of the whole picture when we ask for something! When we ask and we receive something different, and it doesnโt feel good, in the Universeโs wisdom we are given what we need!
When we choose to be grateful and use the gloves of care you speak of, we can see the positives in the gift!
When I look back on my life, there were long stretches where it wasnโt what I would have ever chosen, yet the lessons learned were far deeper than if I had been given only the positives I had asked for!
Thereโs always what feels like positives and negatives, yet when we look back and see what has come out of the negatives, haw can we say it was negative when it helped us develop in ways we never would have dreamed of!
I adore your poetry! You capture the essence and weโd it so beautifully!
Blessings! Tamara

Oh yes this is a good thought and comfort! We have to go down, deep inside the dirt to rise higher? Of course we have to give things up things to get other things. What we want to give up depends on what we can get and want to get.
Certainly you only give things up until you see, that you can get other things. And of course our wishes are not served on a silver platter. Life and the most wonderful things are always a complete package. But this package we will learn to love, because we have chosen it.
But so, if I get what I asked for. I do wonder, what I’ve really asked for, when I feel I’m not getting what I want? When dreams remain unfulfilled and one feels a great imbalance between what one gives and what one desires. When the pain weighs so much more than the joy. So your theory is, that I needed a lesson? Well I surely will appriciate all lesseons in life on day and hopefully I can also forgive people who hurted me for this reason. So, should one then reconsider his wishes? I think we have no influence on our dreams and we also do not give up our dreams either. But time heals wounds and dreams change. And that’s good, because otherwise there would be only astronauts, firefighters, princesses and fashion models in the world.

Dear Anie, thank you for sharing your reflections on this. I believe everything that comes our way teaches us something about ourselves. The only way to influence our life is to continually let go what doesn’t serve us and making choices that are in the direction of our well being. The choices sometimes are difficult to begin with because of our invested emotions, yet they take us forward in our life. I wish you utmost support in your journey.

You are right, but itโs hard to learn to let go if you never made this choice before in your life…itโs hard, itโs painful, not really because of the things you let go but of the awareness that you really decide yourself!

Yes I agree it can indeed be very painful and difficult. Such is our life journeys surely …I believe we need to be willing though and keep finding our way.
